Aamulla herättyäni katsoin ulos ja näin kurren kuorma-autossa. Kun tarkensin, se oli jo kadonnut.
In this morning, just after waking up I saw a squirrel in a truck. When I focused, it was already gone.

Siellähän ne! / There they are!

vaan miksi olette niin kovin hiljaisia, kuomaseni?

Iltameno / Evening event

Singapore Night Festivalin viimeisessä illassa oli väkeä – liikennevaloihinkin jonotettiin. Valonäytöksistä pidin. Ja siitä, että illalla voi olla samoissa hellevaatteissa kuin päivälläkin. Täällä on muuten yksi omituinen, satunnainen vaatetusilmiö: farkkujen käyttö. Vaikka denim ehkä suojaa hyvin hyttysiltä (ja sitä kautta mm. Dengue-kuumeelta), en voisi itse kuvitella käyttäväni farkkuja näin nihkeissä ilmasto-olosuhteissa. Puhumattakaan piposta, jollaisen olen täällä myös nähnyt yhden tytön päässä.

The last day of the Singapore Night Festival was crowded - you had to line even to get to wait for the traffic lights. I liked the light shows and the fact that you can wear the same light clothes in the evening as during the day. Here is by the way one strange occasional phenomenon with clothing: jeans. While denim may protect from mozzies (and hence from Dengue fever), I can't imagine myself wearing jeans in this clammy climate. Let alone a woolen hat, which I have also seen used here.
