Finally we implemented the wild plan of an evening in the city. I would wish a jar of metropolis atmosphere, from which I could take a sip when ever wished... We ate at the 150 years old Telok Ayer Market and walked through the Marina Bay to the "Light mushroom park" (aka Gardens by the bay) where currently blooms twenty thousand tulips. By chance we experienced the light show and when it ended after eight we had to hurry before the magic ends, as child was tired and wanted to go home. Our carriage was an old small Toyota taxi*.
*Singaporessa taksit ovat osa julkista liikennettä ja niiden käyttö on edullista, halvimmillaan esimerkiksi noin 10 km matka ei-ruuhka-aikaan maksaa noin 9 dollaria eli alle 6 euroa. Takseja harvemmin tilataan, vaan niitä bongaillaan kadunvarresta - myös "maaseudulla".
* In Singapore taxis are part of the public transport and they are quite cheap, for example 10 km on off-peak time can be approx 9 SGD. Rarely taxis are ordered, you just spot one from the street - also in more rural areas.
